My Story

Hello and thanks for stopping by!

Let me tell you a little bit about me,

First and foremost, I’m the proud mother of three children. Yes, I have been through it all, three pregnancies, bed rest, pregnancy weight gain (lots of it), ups and downs of motherhood, and my career. Nevertheless, I had to get back into my pre-pregnancy jeans :) By no means an easy task, considering I gained more than 60lbs on my first pregnancy and more than 50 on my last two!

Ever since I can remember I have always been interested in fitness and nutrition. I was a chronic dieter and a fitness freak. I always knew the latest trends at the gyms as well as the latest classes. I spent many years jumping from diet to diet, and from one program to another hoping to find the perfect one. What came out of that? The yo-yo dieting cycle and the lose/gain weight cycle. Through a lot of sacrifice I was able to somewhat maintain a healthy weight, but whenever I let go a bit, I gained it all back. In reality, I hadn’t discovered the right way to keep it off for good, and it was because I always thought that dieting, counting calories and over exercising was the solution. As a result, every time I stopped dieting or exercising the weight came back up.

With me not understanding the right approach to balanced nutrition, it should not have come as a surprise that I gained all that weight during my pregnancies. During my first pregnancy I gained more than 60 lbs. I was pre-diabetic with borderline high blood pressure. After I had my baby girl (who is now 14 years old) I started educating myself in weight training and was able to lose all that weight, and keep most of it off. However, since one of the most important pieces in the fat loss puzzle is nutrition,  my lack of knowledge caused me to experience weight gain during my second and third pregnancies. Not only was I put on bed rest, but I gained 50 and 40 lbs, respectively with my last two pregnancies.

That was it for me! I was tired of all that dieting, calorie counting, over training, plateaus, and not feeling well physically and emotionally. I mean it really was mentally and physically draining! Losing the weight was not only the issue, on top of it all I had to balance my career. Teaching (I was a teacher at the time), exercise, calories counting, raising three kids, sports, dinners, and spending time with my husband. How and when was I going to be able to do it all?

I started to dig in more and more into nutrition and exercise, educating myself, buying books, and researching on line. I started experimenting with different methods of training, went to the gym, took different classes and started only doing things that I would enjoy. This is when I fell in love with weights, I had found a way to exercise that I really loved. I realized that no one should go through exercises that they don’t enjoy just because they claim to be effective. Bottom line is if you can’t enjoy it, it’s not sustainable, if it’s not sustainable, it’s not effective. I started then to apply this to nutrition. If it’s not sustainable, it will not be effective in the long run. I finally found balance, in exercise in nutrition. I was finally able to lose the weight and keep it off. Not only did I find a balanced way into fitness and nutrition I found my passion and this passion turned into my career. I quit my job as a teacher to help others find a better way, a more balanced approach.

It took me a long time to realize that it does not all have to be perfect dieting or else, a 100% or nothing. It took me a long tome to realize that “Go hard or Go Home” usually ends up going home. It took me a longtime to believe that moderation does work and that balance in everything you do is what keeps you happy, healthy and sane. When I was finally able to let go of the stress that it was causing me to eat perfectly and spend two hours at the gym, I finally found my happy place, my balance. I was finally able to lose the weight and keep it off, for good! Now I can say that I’m in the best shape of my life. Not because of the way I look, but because of the way I feel :)

I believe in a balanced approach to fat loss. I believe in eating more of the right kinds of foods, not less. I believe in enjoying every piece of food you put in your mouth without having to worry about counting calories, macros or points. Honestly, that’s exhausting! I believe in fat burning, weight training workouts. Quick but intense workouts that will give me the same or better results than if I was spending two hours at the gym every day. Seriously, who has time for that? I have a family to take care of :)

I believe in following our hearts, our intuition, and our passion. And because I have been through it all and I know how it feels, I believe that I need to follow my “charge”.
 My charge in life is to reach out, share my knowledge, and to help busy moms and career women like you achieve their goals, whether it  be, in fitness, fat loss, mind set, motivation, or life.
